Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is the measurement of the pressure in your vascular system. High blood pressure means the heart is pumping harder to move blood through the body. This can weaken blood vessels and damage major organs, such as the heart & brain. Hypertension & High blood pressure can lead to stroke or heart attack.

What causes high blood pressure/hypertension?

Research indicates that for about 85% to 95% of people with high blood pressure, the causes are not entirely clear. Hypertension may result from a variety of causes and risk factors. Some risk factors of high blood pressure, like age and gender, cannot be controlled.
